Professor Gordon Murray, is a mechanical engineer and car designer. He designed, built and raced his first sports car (IGM Ford) in the National Class in South Africa during 1967 and 68. In 2005 Gordon set up his own company, Gordon Murray Design, which designs and builds low-carbon cars.

| CCC's latest report: the UK's innovation challenge |

The Committee published advice to the Governments Chief Scientific Advisor, on the steps that should be taken by Government to ensure low-carbon technologies can be developed in the UK to enable us to meet the 2050 target and secure economic benefits.
The report makes recommendations relating to key technologies for the UK. It also concludes that the current level of UK public funding for low-carbon research, development and demonstration should be regarded as a minimum, and is low by international standards. |

Professor Skea, member of the Committee, has been awarded the 73rd Melchett Award for his significant contribution to the energy industry. He is one of the UK’s leading experts in energy policy and climate change and holds a number of notable posts including fellow of the Energy Institute, UKERC Research Director and Vice-Chair of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change Working Group III. |

Lord John Krebs spoke to business leaders and Parliamentarians interested in corporate responsibility on 14 July. He covered the challenge for businesses in the UK in beginning to prepare for climate change impacts such as flooding, in addition to continuing their work to reduce emissions.

| | Publication of the CCC 2009-10 Annual Report |

On the 15th July the CCC published its Annual Report & Accounts for 2009-10. These were formally laid before Parliament, and received an unqualified opinion from the National Audit Office. The report also contains the Committee's sustainability strategy. |
