Profile on Chris Huhne, Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change

Chris Huhne has been the Member of Parliament for the Eastleigh constituency in Hampshire since 2005. When the coalition government formed in May, Chris was appointed Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change.

"If we wait it will be too late" ASC's first report on adaptation published
The Adaptation Sub-Committee has published its first national assessment of how well prepared the UK is for climate change. The report concludes that preparing for climate change today will reduce the costs and damages of a changing climate.
Business leaders support CCC's call for CRC scheme to be simplified
Over 50 business leaders joined CEO David Kennedy and Committee member Dr Sam Fankhauser, to launch the CCC advice on the government's Carbon Reduction Commitment Scheme. The advice concluded that the scheme should be re-designed prior to 2013 in order to reduce its complexity.
Committee urges the Coalition to focus on hitting the 2020 renewable target rather than raising it
The Committee has published a letter to Chris Huhne urging Government to press on with its efforts to ensure that the share of renewable energy is increased from current low levels to 15% by 2020.
Turner welcomes Laidlaw's calls for transformation of the energy sector
Lord Adair Turner, Chair of the CCC welcomed a speech from Sam Laidlaw, Chief Executive of Centrica. Mr Laidlaw called for the energy sector to transform itself in order to support moves to a low-carbon economy.
