An assessment of the potential for demand-side fuel savings in the HGV sector (CfSRF)

This report was commissioned from the Centre for Sustainable Road Freight as part of the Committee’s work on preparing its advice on the fifth carbon budget.

Reducing emissions from surface transport has traditionally been viewed as being difficult due to:

  • limited scope for electrification,
  • significant barriers to adoption of hydrogen fuel cell vehicles, and
  • limited availability of other power train options

This research seeks to better understand these issues.
