Infrastructure in a low-carbon energy system to 2030 (by Element Energy and Imperial)

This report was commissioned from Element Energy and Imperial College London by the Committee. It provides supporting research for the CCC’s Fourth Carbon Budget Review – part 2.

The supporting research looks at the cost of the infrastructure required for a low carbon system by 2030, with regards to transmission and distribution systems. It explores:

  • a number of decarbonisation scenarios to 2030,
  • the impacts of these scenarios on the transmission and distribution system, and
  • the barriers to deployment.
