Modelling ‘leadership-driven’ scenarios of the global mitigation effort (UCL Energy Institute)

This report by the UCL Energy Institute was produced to support the Committee on Climate Change’s (CCC) 2019 report Net Zero: The UK’s contribution to stopping global warming.

This research provided supporting information for Chapter 3 of the CCC’s report, considering an appropriate UK contribution to the global effort. The UCL Energy Institute modelled scenarios of the global effort to achieve the Paris Agreement with an integrated model of the climate and energy. In particular it looked at ‘leadership-driven’ scenarios of the global effort in which the UK, along with a set of similar partner countries, undertake stretching emissions reductions more ambitious than the global average effort.
