This consultancy report, produced by Scotland’s Rural College, ADAS and Edinburgh University, accompanies Chapter 7 of the CCC’s Net Zero Technical report.
This report identifies the scope for additional cost-effective abatement of non-CO2 emissions in the UK agriculture sector by 2050. The measures were selected on the basis that they could provide significant technical abatement and be feasibly deployed by 2050, while avoiding negative impacts on animal welfare. The work also updated two of the fifth carbon budget measures to reflect the improved methodology for calculating agricultural emissions (i.e. the Smart Inventory). This new evidence was reflected in our net zero abatement scenarios.
