1. Outline
To inform the Climate Change Committee’s (CCC) 2022 report ‘Voluntary Carbon Markets and Offsetting’, the CCC commissioned Allied Offsets to collect data on UK carbon credits and offsetting. The main purpose of the work was to identify data to help assess the current and future scale of voluntary carbon offset market in the UK, considering both supply and demand.
2. Key messages
The project found that there was limited data, and it was challenging to answer the research questions without significant assumptions. Given the significant assumptions, the workbooks were developed so that the assumptions could be adjusted.
The CCC used elements of the work to inform its own analysis.
