Updating of CCC Land Use Scenarios for Scotland and Northern Ireland (UKCEH)

1. Outline

To support recommendations on the setting of emission target advice to the Scottish Government and Northern Ireland Assembly, the Climate Change Committee (CCC) commissioned UKCEH to update analysis of land-based greenhouse gas mitigation measures undertaken for the 6th Carbon Budget. This update reflects technical and methodological approaches in the UK GHG Inventory regarding the forestry and peatland sub sectors, and assesses the impact on the CCC’s Baseline, and Balanced Net Zero pathways for Scotland and Northern Ireland and the Tailwinds pathway for Northern Ireland. The original assumptions regarding how land is used in each scenario have not been changed.
