Voluntary Carbon Markets and Offsetting – Call for evidence summary (MCC Economics Ltd)

1. Outline

The CCC commissioned MCC Economics to review and summarise the evidence and views shared in the call for evidence held in Spring 2022 on voluntary carbon offsetting. This Call for evidence provided stakeholders with the opportunity to input into the CCC’s work and to enable the CCC to draw on the full range of up-to-date evidence relating to offsets. The views and evidence provided helped inform the CCC’s 2022 report ‘Voluntary Carbon Markets and Offsetting’.

2. Summary of responses

A total of 56 stakeholders submitted responses to the call to evidence. Of these stakeholders, 16 were businesses, 5were government agencies, 4were individuals, 25 were NGOs, 2 were offset programme brokers, 1 was in research or academia and 3 were from other sectors. The individual responses to the Call for Evidence except a small number where respondents did not agree to their response being published, are published in full in this excel.
