Paul Johnson appointed to the Committee on Climate Change – 8 August 2012

The Department of Energy and Climate Change has announced the appointment of Paul Johnson to the Committee on Climate Change.

Paul, who replaces Professor Michael Grubb, is currently the Director of the Institute for Fiscal Studies and has worked in the field of economics and public policy throughout his career.  Paul’s prior roles have included chief economist at the Department for Education and director of public spending in HM Treasury, where his responsibilities included environment and climate change.

David Kennedy, The Committee’s Chief Executive said:

“We are delighted to welcome Paul to the Committee. He has a very strong track record in applied economics, with valuable experience gained working in both public and private sectors. This will be particularly useful in our review of the fourth carbon budget, and designing the fifth budget. We very much look forward to working with him.”
