Climate Change Risk Assessment Independent Assessment (CCRA4-IA) Technical Report

UK’s Seventh Carbon Budget, Wales’s Fourth Carbon Budget and Northern Ireland’s Fourth Carbon Budget
- In November 2023, the CCC launched a call for evidence on the UK’s Seventh carbon budget (2038-2042), Wales’s Fourth Carbon Budget (2031-2035) and Northern Ireland’s Fourth Carbon Budget (2038-2042). We are in the process of considering the answers before finalising the methodology underpinning our advice.
Carbon Offsets
- In Spring 2022 the CCC launched a call for evidence on voluntary carbon offsetting. The views and evidence provided helped to inform the CCC’s report on ‘Voluntary Carbon Markets and Offsetting’ published in 2022.
Sixth Carbon Budget and Welsh emissions targets
- In late 2019, the Committee launched a call for evidence to inform its advice to the UK Government on the Sixth Carbon Budget, published in December 2020. In addition, the Committee sought input on Wales’ third carbon budget and interim emissions targets.
Net Zero
- In October 2018, the Climate Change Committee (CCC) updated its advice on the UK and Devolved Administrations’ long-term targets for greenhouse gas emissions. The CCC sought evidence to help with that task.
Biomass in a low-carbon economy
- In November 2018, the Climate Change Committee (CCC) updated its advice on the role of biomass in the UK’s low-carbon economy. The CCC sought evidence to help with that task.
Welsh Carbon Budgets and Targets
- In December 2017, the Climate Change Committee (CCC) provided advice to the Welsh Government on setting Welsh carbon targets. The CCC sought evidence to help with that task.
Scottish Climate Change Bill
- In March 2017, the Climate Change Committee (CCC) provided advice to the Scottish Government on a new Climate Change Bill for Scotland. The CCC sought evidence to help with that task.
The Environment (Wales) Act
- In April 2017, the Climate Change Committee (CCC) provided new advice to the Welsh Government on the design of Welsh carbon targets. The CCC sought evidence to help with that task.
