This file provides a set of technical, working-level spreadsheets which fed into the development of the CCC’s Net Zero advice to Government, published in 2019. These materials are being released at the request of the First-tier Tribunal (Information Rights) following an enquiry, handled under the Environmental Information Regulations. We have also included a second set of spreadsheets (‘second release’) which were not initially requested. However, these workbooks form part of the full set of Net Zero sectoral spreadsheets so we have treated them as if they were part of the original request.
The spreadsheets relate to the decarbonisation of key sectors of the UK economy. As working-level internal spreadsheets, these were not prepared for publication. In line with their working purpose, not all of the material in these spreadsheets was taken forward into the final Net Zero report.
We have not been able to provide detailed guidance or supporting information to accompany these spreadsheets. However, our 2019 conclusions on the likely cost of reaching Net Zero UK emissions in 2050 were published in Chapter 7 of our final Net Zero advice to Government. We have also published a detailed technical report, assumptions log and costs dataset and an extensive set of supporting information and underlying analysis to accompany both documents. The CCC has since published its Sixth Carbon Budget advice (December 2020), which further developed our recommendations to Government on achieving Net Zero. A detailed Sixth Carbon Budget dataset and extensive supporting information is available here.
