Extract: The CCC responded to a request from Caroline Flint setting out the Committee’s position on an Emissions Performance Standard for new gas-fired generation.
The letter outlines how an Emission Performance Standard could provide a useful back-stop to a carbon-intensity target (i.e. a further signal of the Government’s commitment to decarbonise the power sector) but it is unlikely that this alone would pull through low-carbon investment.
