Committee on Climate Change

Independent advice to Government on building a low-carbon economy

Reports

The CCC provides analytical reports to the UK Government and Devolved Administrations about how the UK can tackle climate change and adapt to its impacts.

UK Aviation Report -  8 December 2009

In January 2009, the CCC was asked by the Secretary of State for Transport to produce a review into UK Aviation emissions. The CCC's Aviation Report sets out options for how the UK can meet the 2050 aviation target to reduce emissions to 2005 levels in 2050. The report includes analysis of UK aviation demand and emissions, methods to improve the carbon efficiency of planes, the use of biofuels and hydrogen in aviation and will also advise on the UK's contribution to a global deal on aviation.

Meeting carbon budgets - the need for a step change - 12 October 2009

This is the Committee's first annual report to Parliament on the progress that has been made by Government so far in reducing emissions and the implications of the recession and 'credit crunch' for meeting carbon budgets. The report will set out the emission reduction indicators that will be used to judge progress and will provide a detailled analysis of the policies required to reduce emissions of greenhouse gases from electricity generation, from buildings and industry, heat and transport.
