The Committee on Climate Change (CCC) today publishes supporting analysis and evidence that accompanies its report on low carbon innovation, which was published on 19 July 2010. Also, published today is a report by the London School of Economics which was referenced in the Committee’s main report.
Last month, the Committee advised the UK Government to protect funding for a suite of low-carbon technologies which will help the UK to achieve reductions in emissions of at least 80% by 2050, whilst also providing the basis for green economic growth in the longer term.
Without government support, a range of essential low-carbon technologies are likely to get stuck in a so-called ‘valley of death’, where development is curtailed, and will fail to make it to market.
