CCC shortlisted for a Climate Week Award – 4 March 2011

The CCC has been shortlisted as a finalist in the Climate Week Awards under the category of “Best initiative by a Government or Statutory Body”. The Committee entered its work on the 4th carbon budget report for consideration by the panel which included Lord Nicholas Stern and author Ian McEwan. The winners will be announced at a ceremony presided over by Secretary of State, Chris Huhne on 21st March.

Climate Week is a national celebration of thousands of events taking place from 21-27 March,  to showcase what positive action is taking place to raise awareness of climate change in the UK.

David Kennedy, Chief Executive of the CCC said:

“Meeting carbon budgets will require action by people, businesses and organisations, within a new set of Government policies and incentives. In raising awareness of opportunities that we have to reduce emissions, Climate Week should make a very positive contribution to the longer term effort required to meet our climate targets and build a green economy”
