Lord Deben writes to Chris Grayling on Road to Zero Strategy

This is a letter from Lord Deben, Chairman of the Committee on Climate Change, to Chris Grayling MP, Secretary of State for Transport, about the Government’s ‘Road to Zero’ Strategy which aims to reduce emissions from UK road transport.

The letter:

  • Welcomes the commitment to end all sales of new conventional petrol and diesel cars and vans by 2040 and the statement that the Government will be publishing a long-term strategy for the UK’s transition to zero road vehicle emissions.
  • Highlights the key transport-related findings of the Committee’s independent assessment of the Government’s Clean Growth Strategy.
  • Highlights the co-benefits of cutting road emissions, including public health, the economy and the environment.
