On 6 November the Scottish Government published its Climate Change Plan setting out the policies and proposals the Scottish Government will take forward to enable its carbon budgets to be met between 2026 to 2040. The Committee’s response is below.
Nigel Topping CMG, Chair of the Climate Change Committee, said:
“We welcome the Scottish Government’s publication of their draft Climate Change Plan setting out how they intend to meet their legally binding targets to reduce emissions. These targets were set in line with our advice.
“When we last assessed how Scotland was performing against its climate goals, we said that the Government needed to set out clear detail of how policies will work together to deliver the required levels of emissions reduction. We will assess the merits of whether this plan delivers that in our progress report early next year.”
