CCC welcomes Government initiatives to review UK flood risk

The Adaptation Sub Committee of the Committee on Climate Change (ASC) welcomes the announcement of two Government initiatives to review flood risk and response following recent flooding in parts of Northern England and Scotland.

The Adaptation Sub Committee has offered its full support to Oliver Letwin MP, who will conduct a National Flood Resilience Review, and to Rory Stewart MP who will lead the Cumbrian Floods Partnership, looking at what more can be done to alleviate the risk of flooding in Cumbria.

The Adaptation Sub Committee is currently in the process of compiling the second UK Climate Change Risk Assessment which will consider the latest evidence of climate change in the UK, its current and projected impacts, and the potential policy implications.
