This report assesses the role of Bioenergy in meeting carbon budgets and targets, drawing on detailed analysis of land use impacts and the UK energy system from technical, economic and wider sustainability perspectives. The report advises Government on key issues such as resource availability, lifecycle emissions, sustainability standards and appropriate use of bioenergy across sectors.

This the ASC's first report to Scotland. Following reports on how well the UK is prepared to deal with climate  change, the ASC was asked by the Scottish Government to undertake an  evaluation of how well Scotland is preparing for climate change.

This report focuses on assessing the Welsh emission targets and  strategy, latest data on emissions and drivers, and policies to drive  future emissions reductions. It also makes an initial assessment of  progress on measures to prepare for climate change within the adaptation  part of the strategy.

Adapting to climate change in the UK – Measuring progress (Adaptation Sub-Committee progress report 2011)

This is the ASC's second assessment of  how well the UK is prepared to deal with climate change impacts and risks. It sets out a range of indicators against which the UK's progress will be measured, and focuses on three priority areas of land-use planning, managing water resources, and the design and renovation of buildings as adaptation measures.

The UK is coping now, but it is near its limits in some key sectors and could be pushed over the edge by climate change. But by preparing now, the UK can reduce the adverse effects of climate change and take advantage of opportunities, according to a new report published today by the Adaptation Sub-Committee (ASC).

Meeting Carbon Budgets – 3rd Progress Report to Parliament

In this 3rd Progress report we build on the techniques developed in the first two. It adjusts recorded emissions in 2010 for weather as well as macroeconomic impacts, showing that the underlying trend is one of broadly flat emissions. Analysis of the indicators meanwhile reveals mixed progress in implementing abatement measures.
