The Adaptation Committee published its report on progress in preparing for climate change in July. In a previous blog I gave some high level reflections on the Government’s latest National Adaptation Programme. It’s fair to say that our assessment has some blunt messages about lack of progress and low ambition in England.

The Committee on Climate Change commissioned Ricardo Energy and Environment to carry out research to assess the infrastructure requirements and costs for the deployment of different zero emission heavy goods vehicle (HGV) technology options.

In a previous study for BEIS, Element Energy and Jacobs considered the potential of fuel switching in industrial heating applications. The study covered just over half of fossil fuel use in manufacturing (120 TWh of a total 215 TWh). The Committee on Climate Change commissioned Element Energy to extend the study so that abatement of all manufacturing combustion emissions by fuel switching was considered.

The Committee on Climate Change (CCC) commissioned Element Energy and the Imperial College Consultants/The Sustainable Gas Institute to assess the scope to reduce emissions from fossil fuel production and fugitive emissions to inform the CCC’s assessment of how the UK could reach net-zero emissions.
